Chair Upcycling Projects

It’s been a few weeks since my last post as I have been busy working on some projects to try and complete as many pieces as possible in time for our first pop up shop event this summer, I still need to source more furniture and vintage finds as well as complete our backroom workshop so it’s busy, busy, busy.

I have finally got around to starting on the 4 ercol chairs I picked up late last year, I was unsure what to do with them initially but after close inspection they needed more tlc than I first thought so I decided a paint job was the best way to go.

Next came the difficulty of deciding what paint effect, colour and finish. I have seen some great examples of ercol chairs and wooden chairs in general being revived with a modern twist or using one colour all over.

As I already had a nice palette of chalk paints and thinking of our local market I went with a shabby chic look, painted all over with a few coats then distressed and finished with a lacquer…

I have also been working on the children’s vintage school chairs and I am so happy with the results.

I chose a satin finish paint for the metal frames and sanded and oiled the wood and they look even better than I imagined and they will look great in a child’s bedroom or play area.

Here is one of the finished chairs….

Another project which I will be tackling soon is getting our online shop up and running so that if any of these finished pieces take your fancy they will be available to buy online throughout the year.

That’s all for now my paint brush is calling!
